The Brief
A B Corp certified company approached Hi Events to reimagine their annual company meeting. Rather than a conventional business update, they wanted to create an experience that reflected their values, encouraged genuine participation and left their team feeling inspired about the future of the business.
Rather than booking a traditional hotel conference suite, Hi Events recommended 100 Barrington in Brixton, an inspiring warehouse venue originally built as a Victorian furniture factory. With exposed brickwork, steel beams, abundant natural light and an impressive courtyard, the venue provided the perfect blank canvas to create something completely bespoke whilst allowing the team to step away from their everyday working environment. The objective wasn't simply to host an annual meeting. It was to create an environment where people naturally slowed down, felt comfortable contributing and could genuinely focus on the future of the business. Every design decision reflected the company's B Corp values, with sustainability considered from the earliest planning stages through to the final guest experience.
Instead of theatre-style seating, the venue was transformed into a collaborative studio. Natural planting softened the industrial architecture, lounge areas encouraged informal conversations between sessions, and multiple breakout zones gave teams the opportunity to work through real business challenges together. Senior leadership presented alongside junior colleagues, creating a genuinely inclusive atmosphere where ideas were shared across every level of the organisation rather than simply flowing from the top down.

Throughout the venue, interactive digital idea boards allowed guests to submit questions, suggestions and feedback anonymously if they wished, encouraging more honest conversations and ensuring every voice could be heard.
Understanding that great ideas require space to think, the afternoon programme paused for something unexpected. A former Buddhist monk guided the team through a twenty-minute mindfulness session, encouraging reflection, self-awareness and mental clarity before the final strategy sessions began. The shift in energy afterwards was immediately noticeable, with conversations becoming more open, creative and collaborative. Wellbeing wasn't treated as an add-on. It became part of the day's strategy. As the formal agenda came to a close, the atmosphere shifted effortlessly into celebration. The courtyard came alive as a local gourmet slider company served freshly prepared beef and chicken sliders from an open barbecue, creating a relaxed environment where conversations continued naturally. Alongside the food, guests took part in a sustainable terrarium workshop, building their own miniature living gardens to take home. The activity reflected both the company's environmental values and the event's wider objective, giving people something meaningful to remember long after the meeting had finished.
Every supplier was chosen with intention. Wherever possible we partnered with fellow B Corp organisations and independent local businesses, allowing the event itself to reflect the company's own values. Guests were welcomed with beautifully curated lunch boxes featuring locally baked artisan bagels selected in advance, accompanied by a carefully chosen selection of snacks from B Corp producers. During the afternoon, a local coffee roastery took over the courtyard, serving freshly roasted coffee and speciality teas while guests enjoyed handcrafted miso popcorn between breakout sessions. Rather than feeling like standard conference catering, every refreshment became another memorable part of the experience.

The annual company meeting became far more than a business update. It strengthened relationships across departments, encouraged open dialogue between employees and leadership, generated valuable strategic ideas and demonstrated how sustainability, wellbeing and commercial success can work hand in hand. Most importantly, it reminded people that when the environment is thoughtfully designed, better conversations naturally happen.
